Electrochemistry- From Fundamentals to Applications

Join the 3rd Electrochemical National Symposium and explore the latest innovations and trends in Electrochemistry- From Fundamentals to Applications. This year’s edition is organised by GroenvermogenNL and Utrecht University / Debye Institute.

Electrochemistry- From Fundamentals to Applications

The world is facing major challenges in the field of sustainability and energy supply. Innovations in electrochemical processes are essential to address these issues and ensure a green future.

Promoting Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration

The symposium provides a platform for scientists, researchers and industry professionals to share knowledge, exchange ideas, build valuable collaborations and ultimately unlock the potential of electrochemistry in the Netherlands.

Registration is now open for ECNS, the annual Dutch electrochemistry symposium. Join us on Monday, May 11, 2026 for a full day of in-depth presentations and discussion within the theme – From Fundamentals to Applications  with topics ranging from an atomic-level understanding of the electrode–electrolyte interface to applied, device level research. l.

Plenary speakers

Peter Strasser – Technical University Berlin
Peter’s research focuses on the materials science and catalysis of nanostructured materials for clean energy storage and conversion. Combining catalyst synthesis, advanced spectroscopy and device-level implementation, he links fundamental understanding of the atomic-scale drivers for electrocatalytic performance to practical application.

Magda Titirici – Imperial College London
Magda develops carbon-based electrodes for clean energy storage and conversion paths including battery chemistries beyond Li, flexible and structural supercapacitors made from lignin/cellulose, carbon-based O2 electrocatalysis and CO2 conversion. To build sustainable electrochemical devices for these applications, she develops synthetic procedures employing renewable precursors and benign synthesis conditions.
