National Knowledge Platform for Hydrogen

Considerable hydrogen knowledge originates from research and development (R&D), learning communities, pilot and demonstration projects, and human capital studies. A key question is how this knowledge reaches the professionals of today and tomorrow. To address this, the Human Capital Agenda of GroenvermogenNL introduces the online National Hydrogen Knowledge Platform.

The human capital agenda is working on an efficient, online platform where knowledge can be exchanged and retrieved. The aim of the online National Knowledge Platform is to make knowledge from hydrogen research, including of course the research of the GroenvermogenNL programme itself, quickly available to (aspiring) professionals and the hydrogen community.

Status: From Prototype to Proof of Concept

In early 2025, EnTranCe, together with a consortium of universities of applied sciences and vocational education institutions, delivered a prototype of the digital National Knowledge Platform. In the coming months, GroenvermogenNL will work with the National Growth Fund programme Npuls and SURF to further develop the digital components of the platform. SURF is currently exploring the extent to which their existing services meet the platform’s requirements and identifying what still needs to be developed or integrated.

GroenvermogenNL’s regional liaison teams and R&D consortia will begin working with the platform’s functionality to embed it into education and research practices. This will result in a first working version (proof of concept) of the digital platform by the end of 2025. After that, the platform will be scaled up, enabling broad application across the hydrogen sector and the wider energy transition. To achieve this, GroenvermogenNL is collaborating with partners including the Topsector Energy.

A Practical Hub for Green Hydrogen

GroenvermogenNL aims to support professionals, educators, researchers, and students in their work, education, and research through the platform. The platform will serve as a practical digital hub, a central access point that guides users efficiently to relevant information, projects, and networks already in place. It will also take into account the evolving hydrogen landscape at local, regional, national, and international levels, involving many different stakeholders.

A Source for Make Hydrogen Work

The National Knowledge Platform is also a valuable link to Make Hydrogen Work. One of its functions is to help users find suitable education and training opportunities for hydrogen-related careers. As such, the platform’s publicly accessible knowledge and information also serve as an important resource for Make Hydrogen Work.

The National Knowledge Platform:

  • Is a digital learning environment
  • Opens the doors to new knowledge
  • Summarises the range of available training courses and programmes
  • Is linked to other platforms
  • Fosters community building
