The direct use of hydrogen phase 2
Goal
To decarbonize the Dutch industry, further advancements in hydrogen use and hydrogen-based technologies across critical application areas are needed.
Phase 1 focuses on research into technology development for furnaces, gas turbines, internal combustion engines, and fuel cells, and on techno-economic aspects of various applications of hydrogen. In Phase 2, this work package will further focus on the direct use of hydrogen and hydrogen carriers as fuel for direct energy production and high-temperature processes, and on use scenarios for industries not covered in Phase 1.
Activities
The proposed research and innovation program for GroenvermogenNL Work Package 3 Phase 2 encompasses three areas:
- Process heat (including ammonia)
-
- Direct use of hydrogen as a fuel for high-temperature processes
- Direct use of ammonia as a fuel for high-temperature processes
- Direct hydrogen-to-power conversion technologies
- Hybrid energy storage
