Over €35 million for major R&D consortium to green the chemical industry with hydrogen
With a grant of over €35 million, GroenvermogenNL and NWO are supporting a large-scale project aimed at greening the chemical industry. Under the name HyCARB, a broad consortium of knowledge institutions and dozens of companies is conducting research into innovative, practice-oriented solutions for using hydrogen and green electrons in the production of carbon-based chemicals.

Pilot projects prove green hydrogen’s potential in the Netherlands
GroenvermogenNL aims to stimulate and accelerate the use of green hydrogen by Dutch industry to enable the energy transition. One of the ways the organisation does so is by supporting pilot projects using the Demonstration of Energy and Climate Innovations (DEI+) subsidy scheme. Some 12 different projects are currently underway which truly make innovative hydrogen applications tangible. In the province of Drenthe (NL) the decision has already been made to commercially manufacture hydrogen.

H2 Impact Makers: H2XP’s Tamara Koeman
Every hydrogen project tells a story of ambition, challenges and hope for the future. We spoke to project leaders, CEOs, researchers and other pioneers to discover their drives, which lessons they have learned and how they contribute to a sustainable hydrogen economy. We asked H2XP’s Tamara Koeman five questions.

Digital job coach helps train more technical professionals
Skills Matching Platform (Arbeidsmatchplatform, AMP) is the first employer-led initiative in the energy transition that applies large-scale skills-based matching. The AMP increases the inflow of talent into the energy transition by focusing on skills instead of diplomas and guides candidates towards a job. This aligns seamlessly with GroenvermogenNL’s Make Hydrogen Work concept, aimed at accelerating labour market development around hydrogen. During the annual Make Hydrogen Work event, Njord Pattiasina gave a workshop on the AMP: “Let’s stop talking and just get started.”

Building a skilled and flexible workforce for the hydrogen economy of tomorrow
Ensuring professionals have the right hydrogen knowledge and skills at the right time is crucial to making the hydrogen transition a success. That’s the mission of GroenvermogenNL’s Make Hydrogen Work program. On June 24, educators, policymakers, and industry leaders came together at the Let’s Make Hydrogen Work event to build a strong learning culture. The main question of the day: how can we make hydrogen a driving force in our workforce?

Launch of the International Hydrogen Guide: Excelling in Hydrogen
During the 2025 World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam, the latest edition of the international hydrogen guide Excelling in Hydrogen was officially launched. This annual English-language publication showcases how the Netherlands positions itself internationally as a frontrunner in the hydrogen transition. GroenvermogenNL is proud that two of the six highlighted flagship projects were made possible in part through funding from our programme.

National Knowledge Platform for Hydrogen: from prototype to proof of concept
At the start of this year EnTranCe, together with a consortium of universities of applied sciences and vocational institutions, delivered a protoype of the National Knowledge Platform. This platform is part of the Human Capital Agenda of GroenvermogenNL. The aim is to make current hydrogen knowledge available, accessible, and useful.
Participate in Hydrogen Emissions Measurements
TNO’s MEETH2 project was recently awarded a € 524,900 subsidy by GroenvermogenNL to catalogue hydrogen emissions in the Netherlands. The goal being to acquire more knowledge of emissions throughout the value chain with the aim of optimising processes and determining whether, and to what extent, additional policy is required for emission standards. TNO calls on stakeholders to participate in the measurements and to co-conceptualise the measurement approach.
