Two new hydrogen projects strengthen national network of learning communities
For the call ‘Towards the future: Learning communities as drivers of the green hydrogen economy’, NWO has awarded funding to two additional regions. Their projects focus on developing regional solutions that contribute to an integrated approach to working, learning and innovation. Together, the projects funded under this call form a national network that accelerates the hydrogen transition.
New subsidy call for direct use of hydrogen in industry and energy
The use of hydrogen as a direct energy carrier offers concrete opportunities to decarbonise sectors where electrification is not a viable alternative, such as high-temperature industrial processes and heavy transport. This requires new solutions in technology, safety and system integration, areas already addressed within the R&D programme of GroenvermogenNL. With this additional call, NWO and GroenvermogenNL take a next step in advancing applications for the direct use of hydrogen.
HyCARB officially launched: watch the film
With a kick-off event at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, the collaboration within HyCARB has officially begun. More than 100 participants from partnering knowledge institutions and companies came together around a shared ambition: advancing the sustainable and clean production of carbon-based chemicals.
How can the Netherlands become a frontrunner in circular electrolysers?
The Netherlands can take a leading position in the development of circular electrolysers, according to recent research commissioned by the Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO). Achieving this will require stronger collaboration between stakeholders. GroenvermogenNL can play a connecting role in this process, the researchers state.
GVNL Perspective Online | How can the production of sustainable aviation fuel take off?
Aviation contributes to global warming. To counter this, the EU will require the sector to use increasing amounts of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This fuel will partly be produced using green hydrogen. It is still quite a challenge to establish this new production chain. A newly to be established Centre of Excellence is intended to help solve this puzzle. “It is a difficult task, but enthusiasm among the potential participants is high.”
Kick-off of HyCARB. “Unique project to make chemistry more sustainable”
On Wednesday 11 March the kick-off of HyCARB took place: a major project within the R&D programme of GroenvermogenNL. A broad consortium of knowledge institutions and dozens of companies gathered in Utrecht to collaborate on innovative, practical solutions for the sustainable and clean production of carbon-based chemicals.
GVNL Perspective Online | Fueling green hydrogen: how to secure project financing
Green hydrogen was once presented as the holy grail for a sustainable future. Today, the outlook is more pragmatic, also among investors and financiers. The potential remains clear, but the path towards viable projects is complex and capital-intensive.
GVNL Perspective Online | Europe’s smart hydrogen hub
The Netherlands has been a trading nation for centuries, thanks to its strategic location, strong ports and well-developed infrastructure. This now gives the country a unique opportunity to become Europe’s smart hydrogen hub. However, significant challenges in infrastructure still need to be addressed. René Peters, Business Director Energy Infrastructure at TNO, explains.
