With the Make Hydrogen Work i initiative, GroenvermogenNL offers professionals who want to become skilled in hydrogen a route to obtaining the right skills. The Make Hydrogen Work initiative is a network of knowledge institutes in the Netherlands that develop and offer hydrogen skills to professionals. It provides insight into what is already available or being developed regionally.
Exploring international rollout of Make Hydrogen Work to South Africa, Morocco and Namibia.
The report ‘Building Bridges: Make Hydrogen Work – International Approach’ explores opportunities to roll out the Make Hydrogen Work programme internationally as well. In collaboration with GroenvermogenNL, a team from the Young Professionals Program of UN Global Compact Network Netherlands explored the opportunities for international cooperation with South Africa, Morocco and Namibia.
All three countries have announced their intention to intensify the development of green hydrogen projects on the African continent, and are part of the African Green Hydrogen Alliance (AGHA). Investing in building capacities and skills is essential for creating a skilled labour market and fostering local expertise in green hydrogen technologies.

Recommendations for an effective international organisation of Make Hydrogen Work
To ensure an effective and efficient international organisation for Make Hydrogen Work, recommendations are made at operational and strategic levels. With this approach, Make Hydrogen Work can start immediately by launching pilot collaborations that focus on the demand of local knowledge institutions. On the other hand, Make Hydrogen Work can link up on a strategic level with knowledge development on a European level and assume a role in international collaborations between the Dutch government and countries with which a letter of intent has been signed.
