Successful green hydrogen projects

Environmental Impact Study HyDeer: Protecting the Environment and Enhancing Grid Flexibility
Circul8 Waterstof Fabriek BV aims to develop HyDeer in Lelystad: a 105 MWe electrolyser for the production of green hydrogen. This hydrogen offers a sustainable solution to grid congestion in the province of Flevoland. The project also foresees converting hydrogen into green ammonia for use across various sectors. Through this initiative, Circul8 is conducting an environmental impact study to optimize design choices and support regional energy transition goals.

MEETH2: a unique measurement programme for Insight into hydrogen emissions
Insight into hydrogen emissions with a view to possible additional policy is crucial when preparing for the green hydrogen economy. The MEETH2 project aims to catalogue the scope of H2 emissions in the Netherlands. Over a two-year period, TNO will roll out a measurement programme to this end using advanced, mobile measuring equipment.

De Leidingstraat: generation of green hydrogen in the countryside
H2XP has ambitious plans for the border of North Brabant and Zeeland with the innovative Leidingstraat project. The Rilland/Woensdrecht energy landscape currently consists of three solar parks. An extra solar park will be added to this. H2XP is investigating whether a green hydrogen plant can be developed to optimise the energy landscape and create flexibility.

SwitcH2: Preparatory Environmental Study into Green Ammonia
The Netherlands needs to accelerate its energy transition if it wishes to achieve European climate objectives. One of the ways in which this could be accomplished is by increasing the availability of green hydrogen and/or green energy carriers in the shape of green ammonia. SwitcH2 is conducting preparatory (environmental)studies for a demo project that proposes a floating production, storage and transshipment platform for ammonia.

HySUCCESS: researching the level of support for green hydrogen
The transition to a future with large-scale use of green hydrogen not only requires technical innovation. Social support for green hydrogen and a favorable economic and regulatory environment are essential for such a transition.

HyPRO: research into risks and cost reduction
R&D | €34.5 million HyPRO provides a platform for research focused on making hydrogen production more sustainable, by advancing electrolysis technology and plasma technology. Objective: to reduce the cost of green hydrogen and scale up production.

TANDEM: Towards Acceleration aNd Demonstration of E-Methanol
R&D | €3.9 million (Demonstration Energy Innovation (DEI+) funding) TANDEM is developing a 1 MW Balance of Plant E-methanol system. Objective: to deliver an E-methanol system that harnesses biogenic CO₂ produced on a decentralised basis, as well as locally generated renewable energy.

H2Plein by XINTC: enabling efficient and renewable hydrogen production
Pilots & demonstrations | €1.7 million (DEI+) Using H2Plein, XINTC is constructing a comprehensive electrolyser system, connected to an existing solar farm that is already operational. Objective: to use the energy output of this solar farm to generate hydrogen for use in mobility.
