Afternoon plenary programme
Marnix’s research focuses on electrochemical energy storage, particularly understanding battery processes at a fundamental level. He uses advanced techniques like operando neutron and X-ray methods, as well as solid-state NMR, to study structural and kinetic properties during charge and discharge cycles, aiming to improve battery performance.

Plenary
Moderator: Mark Boneschanscher
Panel members:
- Moniek Tromp
- Andrea Ramirez Ramirez
- Earl Goetheer
- Martijn de Graaff
In this panel discussion we will link the latest developments in fundamental research to entrepreneurship and venture building, and relate policy developments to industrial transformation. With Earl Goetheer (High Tech XL), Martijn de Graaff (TNO), Andrea Ramírez Ramírez (TUD), and Moniek Tromp (RUG), we will discuss the developments in programs like GroenvermogenNL and Material Independence & Circular Batteries.
We will look at the development of relevant startups in the field and the progress regarding the tailor-made approach to make our chemical industry more sustainable (maatwerkaanpak verduurzaming industry). Finally, we will try to answer that ultimate question: how does the desired future of our chemical industry look like and what can our community do to make this a reality?
