More than 50 organisations are working together on sustainable nitrogen chemistry with hydrogen
Nitrogen is an essential building block for high demand commodities and products that we need in modern society. Nitrogen-based molecules can be used for fertilisers, energy storage, polymers and many other applications. But nitrogen chemistry consumes a lot of energy and contributes significantly to CO2 emissions. With a new call for proposals, GroenvermogenNL is asking industry and knowledge institutions to work together on cleaner processes for nitrogen-based chemistry with renewable hydrogen and green electrons. A large consortium of more than 50 parties is preparing an integrated R&D plan for this purpose.
Construction of hydrogen plant H2 Hollandia starts
The H2 Hollandia project has reached financial close. This means that all contracts have been signed and all financing arrangements are in place. Construction of the hydrogen plant can now officially begin.
H2 impact makers: Gerard Smeden, programme leader of the Ideation Lab Impact Studio
Every hydrogen project tells a story of ambition, challenges and hope for the future. We spoke to project leaders, CEOs, researchers and other pioneers to discover their drives, which lessons they have learned and how they contribute to a sustainable hydrogen economy. We posed five questions to Gerard Smeden, programme leader of Ideation Lab Impact Studio.
Large R&D consortia bring hydrogen innovations to market and society
New, smart solutions are required for the green hydrogen energy transition from production, storage and transport to all manner of applications and societal embedding. GroenvermogenNL supports innovation with a coordinated R&D programme. There are currently five large company and knowledge institution consortia. Two projects have issued additional calls pertaining to hydrogen’s transport, storage as well as its immediate use.
H2 From pioneer to connector. Roeland Hogt, practor and member of the liaison team North, on education as the engine of the energy transition
The energy transition cannot succeed without educational innovation. A few years ago, only a handful of pioneers in education were experimenting with green hydrogen. Today, many teachers are passionate about it. Vocational education plays a crucial role, with students as the makers of a new future. Practor Roeland Hogt himself has made the shift from pioneer to strategic connector in educational innovation. “The success of GroenvermogenNL’s Human Capital Agenda lies with teachers who, from within their organisations, drive the educational and lifelong learning movement.”
Industry studies prove the feasibility and environmental impact of green hydrogen
Industry in the Netherlands should be clean and climate neutral by 2050. Green hydrogen is crucial to achieving this objective and GroenvermogenNL contributes to this aim. We utilise the TSE Industriestudies scheme to fund ten projects that demonstrate and test cost efficiency innovations for hydrogen applications.
H2 Impactmakers: Roeland Hogt, practor at Noorderpoort
Behind every hydrogen project lies a story of ambition, challenges, and hope for the future. We talk to project leaders, CEOs, researchers and other pioneers to discover what drives them, what lessons they learn, and how they contribute to a sustainable hydrogen economy. We asked five questions to Roeland Hogt, practor at Noorderpoort vocational education institute and member of the Human Capital Agenda (HCA) liaison team for the Northern region, about the teacher professionalisation project.
Ideation Labs accelerate innovation in green hydrogen and chemistry
GroenvermogenNL, together with TU Delft, is launching a national programme for valorisation of scientific knowledge. Research institutions across the Netherlands will start so-called Ideation Labs, where researchers are paired with top students who transform innovative ideas into market-ready innovations in green hydrogen and chemistry.
