New subsidy call for direct use of hydrogen in industry and energy

The use of hydrogen as a direct energy carrier offers concrete opportunities to decarbonise sectors where electrification is not a viable alternative, such as high-temperature industrial processes and heavy transport. This requires new solutions in technology, safety and system integration, areas already addressed within the R&D programme of GroenvermogenNL. With this additional call, NWO and GroenvermogenNL take a next step in advancing applications for the direct use of hydrogen.

Kick-off of HyCARB. “Unique project to make chemistry more sustainable”

On Wednesday 11 March the kick-off of HyCARB took place: a major project within the R&D programme of GroenvermogenNL. A broad consortium of knowledge institutions and dozens of companies gathered in Utrecht to collaborate on innovative, practical solutions for the sustainable and clean production of carbon-based chemicals.

New R&D call: € 13 million subsidy for research into transport and storage of hydrogen

Better green than blue: social acceptance of hydrogen depends on sustainability

The Dutch government and industry are committed to an energy transition. Hydrogen plays an important role in this. But how does society view this? Initial research by the HySUCCESS project shows that people find green hydrogen more acceptable than blue hydrogen because of its sustainability. When it comes to trust it is also highly relevant who produces the hydrogen: a company with or without a history in the fossil fuel industry.

GroenvermogenNL invests €19 million in sustainable production of fine chemicals and specialties

The chemical industry enables the production of many high-value products, such as pharmaceuticals, cleaning agents, cosmetics and electronics. But how can their production become more sustainable? Under the name HyFINE, a consortium of knowledge institutes and companies is exploring new, sustainable production methods for fine chemicals and specialties. With a subsidy of more than €19 million, GroenvermogenNL and NWO jointly support this R&D project.

Project plan for sustainable nitrogen-based chemistry takes shape

A large consortium of more than 50 parties is working on an integrated R&D plan for nitrogen-based chemistry using renewable hydrogen and green electrons. To this end, it met this fall for two intensive workshops, each lasting 2.5 days. How did this go and where does the consortium stand now? Watch the video

More than 50 organisations are working together on sustainable nitrogen chemistry with hydrogen

Nitrogen is an essential building block for high demand commodities and products that we need in modern society. Nitrogen-based molecules can be used for fertilisers, energy storage, polymers and many other applications. But nitrogen chemistry consumes a lot of energy and contributes significantly to CO2 emissions. With a new call for proposals, GroenvermogenNL is asking industry and knowledge institutions to work together on cleaner processes for nitrogen-based chemistry with renewable hydrogen and green electrons. A large consortium of more than 50 parties is preparing an integrated R&D plan for this purpose.
