Large consortium working on plan for greening carbon-based chemistry
A key objective of GroenvermogenNL is to make industrial chemical processes both more sustainable and circular. A large R&D consortium made up of dozens of companies and knowledge institutions is currently working to build a plan specifically for carbon-based chemistry. After a final workshop in mid-January, the partners are working towards a final proposal in March.
New R&D call: €19.3 million grant is available for hydrogen and green electrons for specialty and fine chemicals
In 2025, the GroenvermogenNL programme expands with three more R&D consortia to be formed, focusing on green chemistry. For theme 6: Hydrogen and green electrons for specialty and fine chemicals, €19.3 million is available. This can make an important contribution to making the Dutch chemical industry more sustainable. An information meeting on the call for this theme will be held on 13 February.
Kick-off HySUCCESS: National research consortium launched on non-technical factors of the green hydrogen transition
On Monday 2nd December, GroenvermogenNL's HySUCCESS project was launched. A broad consortium from the knowledge and business field will spend the next six years focusing on the socio-economic factors of a successful hydrogen transition. ‘Societal support and a favourable economic and legal climate are just as important as technical innovations,’ said Paulien Herder, board member of GroenvermogenNL.

R&D Consortium HyUSE has officially launched
On Friday, 11 October, a new R&D project from GroenvermogenNL was launched. In Utrecht, the HyUSE consortium kicked off a program in which 30 partners will conduct research over the next six years into the direct use of hydrogen as fuel for industry, heavy transport, and local energy systems.
New scheme for GroenvermogenNL: hydrogen and green electrons for carbon-based chemistry
To make the chemical industry more sustainable, green hydrogen and green electrons are important in industrial processes. GroenvermogenNL has opened a new scheme to contribute to the scientific research needed for this sustainability. The scheme focuses on synthetic fuels, bulk chemicals, process heating, and process integration. A subsidy budget of €35.3 million is available for the call.
Launch of research project on green hydrogen production technologies the largest of its kind
With 58 partners, a grant of over €34.5 million and a total budget of over €50 million, GroenvermogenNL's new HyPRO project is the largest R&D project into green hydrogen in the Netherlands to date. This R&D project was approved this week by the Dutch Research Council NWO. The consortium will research more sustainable production of hydrogen by improving electrolysis & plasma technology: “at the heart of the hydrogen revolution.”
