Researcher Remco de Boer writes and speaks about energy and climate. He is creator of the podcast Studio Energie, a weekly interview programme with the key players in the Dutch and European energy and climate debate.
In June his new book, Droomland – Dutch energy and climate policy and what came of it, was published. Droomland is the sobering, moving and at times disconcerting story of a quarter century of energy and climate policy.
In 2015, he published Tussen hoogmoed en hysterie, a revealing reconstruction of the fight against shale gas in the Netherlands. Earlier, De Boer was a commentator for BNR Nieuwsradio and wrote expert articles for the’Financieele Dagblad’, among others.

His role involves engaging with European institutions and industry associations to advocate for TotalEnergies’ power and hydrogen strategies. Martin’s expertise spans commercial, analyst, economist, and strategic positions, reflecting his deep understanding of energy markets and the energy transition.

Anne-Frédérique has been active for 15 years in various positions, including operational, commercial, project and program management. She gained experience at the industrial gas company Air Liquide and the port of Antwerp-Bruges. During her career, she has developed a passion for the energy and climate transition.
In January 2023, Anne-Frédérique joined the Electrolyzers Business Development team at Cummins. As Business Expert Large Industries, she supports customers from various industrial sectors in reducing their CO2 emissions.
As Director New Energy at Tata Steel, Albert is responsible for the procurement of energy needed to produce green steel. Albert knows the company and the steel-making process like no other. He has been with Tata Steel (then Koninklijke Hoogovens) since 1996 and has contributed to the company in a variety of roles since then. Transformation runs as a common thread through his work. As a board member of the energy platform Nooorzeekanaalgebied, Albert plays a central role in the regional development of the energy transition of the industry.
Hydrogen
Recently, dihydrogen became of interest as a versatile and green career of renewable energy. As a chemist my passion for this molecule stems from way before. Hydrogen is the first and smallest element of our periodic table and very important in numerous compounds as drugs and materials. In our quest for sustainability it is a molecule of great importance as a (potentially) green building block.
Hydrogen, however, is a very social element which likes to be paired with another hydrogen to form a dihydrogen molecule and is then full of energy. Above all, hydrogen likes diversity and connects to most other atoms to form interesting molecules with important properties and functionalities. Together they do the job in a hydrogen based (or better inspired) economy.

Bert Weckhuysen (1968) is a Distinguished University Professor at Utrecht University. He received his Master and PhD degrees from Leuven University, after which he worked as a postdoc at Lehigh University and Texas A&M University. His research group has been active in the design, synthesis, characterization and application of catalysts for the manufacturing of our current and future fuels, chemicals and materials.
Recent research is devoted to the catalytic activation of CO2 and H2O, as well as the chemical recycling of plastics and the upgrading of municipal and agricultural waste. He has received for his research work many prizes, including the Emmett Award, Bourke Award, Spinoza Award, Tanabe Prize, and most recently the Chemistry Europe Award. He has been appointed Knight in the Order of the Netherlands Lion and is a member of a.o. the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences, Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Sciences and Arts, and European Academy of Science.
